SENA (Servicio Nacional de Aprendizaje) is like INA a national institution which trains specialists for small and industrial trade and service sector.

SENA in Barraquilla originates from families with a German background. The big breweries of the country and the air company AVIANCA came from german roots. The Centro-Colombo-Alemán from SENA Atlantico was supported by the German development aid right from the beginning.

DSE in Mannheim has patronised the centre to the extent that it can be considered a standard and model for a sustainable development. Very soon advanced seminars for knowledge multipliers for people coming from all Latin-American countries were held. Barraquilla gained international reputation. Training was mainly offered for professions of the metal industry, for instance welding technology. Due to the general technological progress, a training in modern industrial electronics had become indispensable.

Between 1994 and 2000 I was asked to offer one/two advanced seminars a year in order to up date the teachers at place. The intention was to turn the achieved standards of the program into an international training seminar that last 6 months.

In 1996 the first international seminar for teachers from Latin-American countries took place. The seminar was about up-to-date industrial electronics. Thank the assistance SENA emerged as a significant knowledge multiplier and pioneer.
