TECSUP (Instituto Tecnolólogico Superior) is an interesting example of a private initiative of solving the problem of technician shortage in the mining industry. Boards of Peruvian mining industry started to solve the issue and were soon supported by the State economic department of Baden – Württemberg. The created institute has become an example for the world of education in Peru and it is still being copied by many domains.

My job was to make an evaluation about the progress and to organise seminars for teachers of the same institute.

The TECSUP – project is a reaction to a specific problematic in countries with higher educational ambitions but with poor institutional differentiation, such as Peru is. University level is generally the main target of educational. Families invest a lot of money and energy on that. People with a technical – vocational education don’t enjoy a higher social prestige and one is not inclined to invest money on it. Since TECSUP is a superior institute, it does satisfy Peruvians expectations and, moreover, students usually get a well-paid job after their graduation.
